Rajputi Chuda Mewar — Boor Chuda for Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bhilwara & the Vagad

Karni Creations makes rajputi boor chuda by hand in Jaipur and delivers it across every district of the Mewar belt — Udaipur, Salumbar, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Pratapgarh, Banswara and Dungarpur — by courier, in up to 8 days. Every set is shown to the bride’s family on a video call before it is dispatched. Prices run from ₹599 for the plain 15 cut boor to ₹4,599 for the 9 cut Complete set, in sizes 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8.

Mewar is Sisodia country — Chittor first, and Udaipur after the walls came down in 1568. The boor chuda is the bride’s set here as it is everywhere in Rajputana: the cream-white hathi dant finish, the 7 cut and 9 cut boor dhalu chuda for the wedding, the plain 15 cut boor for the year around it.

In Short

What is a rajputi boor chuda?

A rajputi boor chuda is the cream-white bridal bangle set worn by Rajput brides in Rajasthan, finished to resemble hathi dant (ivory). It is placed on the bride by the women of her family. The bridal version is the boor dhalu chuda, made in 7 cut (14 bangles) or 9 cut (18 bangles). The plain 15 cut boor is the everyday set, worn through the festivals of the year.

What does “dhalu” mean?

Dhalu is the shaped, cut finish on a bridal boor chuda. A 7 cut dhalu has 14 bangles and sits lighter on the arm. A 9 cut dhalu has 18 bangles and sits fuller, higher up the forearm.

What is a Thikana Patra?

A Thikana Patra is a written history of the bride’s ancestral thikana — the estate her Rajput family holds. Karni Creations researches it against the records, sends it to the family for approval, then writes it out to travel with the chuda in its box.

Is boor chuda the same as Punjabi chura?

No. The rajputi boor chuda is cream-white and worn by Rajput brides, placed on by the women of the family. The Punjabi chura is red-and-white and placed on by the bride’s maternal uncle. Different object, different community, different ceremony.

What size boor chuda do I need?

Boor chuda comes in sizes 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8; boor does not stretch, so the size cannot be adjusted after it ships. Measure the inner diameter of a bangle the bride already wears comfortably and send that number to Karni Creations before you pay.

City by City

Where the chuda goes, town by town

The Mewar belt is the longest run the workshop makes. Shahpura and Bhilwara are barely two hundred kilometres away; Kushalgarh, past Banswara on the Gujarat side, is nearly six hundred. The courier window is the same everywhere in Rajasthan — up to 8 days — but here is what the road looks like from where you are.

Rajputi Chuda Udaipur

About 400 km from the Jaipur workshop · Courier in up to 8 days · Udaipur city, Girwa, Badgaon, Mavli, Fatehnagar, Vallabhnagar, Bhinder, Kanor

Karni Creations delivers rajputi chuda to Udaipur by courier from its Jaipur workshop, about 400 km away, in up to 8 days. Delivery covers Udaipur city and the tehsils around it — Girwa, Badgaon, Mavli, Fatehnagar, Vallabhnagar, Bhinder and Kanor — and the hill tehsils west of it: Gogunda, Jhadol, Kherwara, Rishabhdev and Kotra. The set is shown on a video call before it leaves Jaipur.

Udaipur is where the house went after Chittor. Udai Singh had already laid the city out by the lake; when the fort fell in 1568 the Maharanas never went back to it. Bedla sits on the edge of the city and is a Chauhan house — one of the sixteen first-class nobles of Mewar — which tells you most of what you need to know about how this court was actually put together. Gogunda, up in the hills, is where Pratap was raised to the gaddi.

If your family holds a thikana under Mewar, tell us. The Thikana Patra is researched against the records and sent to your family for approval before a word of it is written.

Boor Chuda Salumbar

About 460 km · Courier in up to 8 days · Salumbar, Sarada, Semari, Jhallara, Lasadiya

Karni Creations delivers boor chuda to Salumbar, Sarada, Semari, Jhallara and Lasadiya by courier from Jaipur, in up to 8 days.

Salumbar is the Chundawat capital and the first name among the sixteen — the Rawat of Salumbar took precedence at the Maharana’s durbar. The Chundawats descend from Chunda, eldest son of Maharana Lakha, who gave up his claim to the gaddi and whose line kept, in exchange, a standing at court that no other house held. Deogarh, Amet and Begun are Chundawat seats out of the same root.

Salumbar was carved out of Udaipur as a district in 2023, and it kept that status through the December 2024 reorganisation — the only new district anywhere in the Mewar belt, and the only one that survived.

Boor Chuda Chittorgarh

About 320 km · Courier in up to 8 days · Chittorgarh city, Gangrar, Rashmi, Kapasan, Bhadesar, Bassi

Karni Creations delivers boor chuda to Chittorgarh city, Gangrar, Rashmi, Kapasan, Bhadesar and Bassi by courier from Jaipur, in up to 8 days.

Chittor is the parent seat. Everything the Sisodias are, they are because of that rock — and because of what happened when they finally left it. The house did not end at Chittor; it moved, and it kept going. Brides from this district still order the same set their grandmothers wore, and the workshop still turns it by hand.

Boor Chuda Nimbahera, Begun & Bari Sadri

About 370 km · Courier in up to 8 days · Nimbahera, Begun, Bari Sadri, Dungla, Rawatbhata, Bhainsrorgarh

Karni Creations delivers boor chuda to Nimbahera, Begun, Bari Sadri, Dungla, Rawatbhata and Bhainsrorgarh by courier from Jaipur, in up to 8 days.

Begun and Bhainsrorgarh are Chundawat thikanas. Bari Sadri is a Jhala one — and it is the Jhala house whose ancestor, Man Singh, put on Maharana Pratap’s armour at Haldighati so the Maharana could get off that field alive. Both of them sat among the sixteen. Rawatbhata and Bhainsrorgarh are down on the Chambal, where Mewar starts turning into Hadoti.

Rajputi Chuda Rajsamand

About 330 km · Courier in up to 8 days · Rajsamand, Kankroli, Khamnor, Railmagra, Delwara

Karni Creations delivers rajputi chuda to Rajsamand, Kankroli, Khamnor, Railmagra and Delwara by courier from Jaipur, in up to 8 days.

Khamnor, in this district, is where the Haldighati pass opens — Pratap and the Mughal vanguard met on that ground in 1576. Delwara, above Rajsamand, is a Jhala house, one of the three among the Maharana’s sixteen.

Boor Chuda Nathdwara

About 330 km · Courier in up to 8 days · Nathdwara, Kankroli, Delwara, Khamnor

Karni Creations delivers boor chuda to Nathdwara by courier from Jaipur, about 330 km away, in up to 8 days. There is no shop in Nathdwara — the set is shown to the bride’s family on a video call before it leaves the workshop.

Nathdwara is Shrinathji’s town, and a great deal of Mewar’s wedding shopping still passes through it — families come in for the darshan and go home with most of the buying done. The boor chuda is the one thing that usually cannot be finished on that trip: it is made to the bride’s size, by hand, and it takes weeks rather than an afternoon. Order it before you come, not while you are here.

Boor Chuda Deogarh, Amet & Kumbhalgarh

About 300–350 km · Courier in up to 8 days · Deogarh, Amet, Bhim, Kelwara, Charbhujagarh

Karni Creations delivers boor chuda to Deogarh, Amet, Bhim, Kelwara (Kumbhalgarh) and Charbhujagarh by courier from Jaipur, in up to 8 days. Deogarh is one of the nearer Mewar towns to the workshop, at roughly 300 km.

Deogarh and Amet are Chundawat houses — the Rawats there descend from the same Chunda as Salumbar. Kumbhalgarh sits above Kelwara: Kumbha’s wall, and the fort where Pratap was born. This is the stretch where Mewar starts leaning towards Marwar, and the courier runs it on the way down to Udaipur.

Rajputi Chuda Bhilwara

About 250 km · Courier in up to 8 days · Bhilwara city, Mandal, Hamirgarh, Gulabpura, Gangapur, Hurda

Karni Creations delivers rajputi chuda to Bhilwara city, Mandal, Hamirgarh, Gulabpura, Gangapur and Hurda by courier from Jaipur, in up to 8 days. Bhilwara is the nearest district of the Mewar belt to the workshop, at roughly 250 km.

Bhilwara is Mewar’s northern edge — close enough to Jaipur that the courier’s shortest run in this direction ends here. Banera is a Sisodia house; Mandalgarh, to the east, was one of Mewar’s forts long before it was a tehsil.

Boor Chuda Shahpura, Mandalgarh & Jahazpur

About 210–280 km · Courier in up to 8 days · Shahpura, Banera, Mandalgarh, Jahazpur, Bijoliya, Kotri, Asind

Karni Creations delivers boor chuda to Shahpura, Banera, Mandalgarh, Jahazpur, Bijoliya, Kotri and Asind by courier from Jaipur, in up to 8 days. Shahpura, at roughly 210 km, is the closest town in the whole Mewar belt to the Jaipur workshop.

Shahpura is a Sisodia house, but it was never a thikana held under the Maharana — under the British it was a state in its own right, and it was grouped with Tonk and Bundi, not with Udaipur. Bijolia, further south, is a Parmar house and one of the sixteen. Shahpura was made a district in 2023 and folded back into Bhilwara in December 2024; the courier reaches it either way.

Boor Chuda Pratapgarh

About 420 km · Courier in up to 8 days · Pratapgarh city, Chhoti Sadri, Dhariawad, Arnod, Peepalkhoont

Karni Creations delivers boor chuda to Pratapgarh city, Chhoti Sadri, Dhariawad, Arnod and Peepalkhoont by courier from Jaipur, in up to 8 days.

Pratapgarh is named for Maharawat Pratap Singh, who built the town at the end of the seventeenth century — not for Maharana Pratap. Outsiders get this wrong constantly; nobody from Pratapgarh does. The house is Sisodia, out of the old Deolia line, and its rulers were Maharawats. Dhariawad, in the same district, was founded by a grandson of Maharana Pratap — so both names are in this district, and they are not the same man.

Pratapgarh became a district of its own in 2008, out of Chittorgarh, Udaipur and Banswara. If your thikana is here, tell us which one — the record is checked before anything is written.

Rajputi Chuda Banswara — the Vagad

About 500 km · Courier in up to 8 days · Banswara, Kushalgarh, Ghatol, Garhi, Bagidora, Partapur, Talwara

Karni Creations delivers rajputi chuda to Banswara, Kushalgarh, Ghatol, Garhi, Bagidora, Partapur and Talwara by courier from Jaipur, in up to 8 days. Kushalgarh, past Banswara on the Gujarat side, is the furthest town in the Mewar belt from the workshop, at roughly 560 km.

This is Vagad, and it is worth saying plainly: it sits in the Mewar belt but it is not Mewar proper. Banswara split from Dungarpur in 1527, after Rawal Udai Singh of Vagad was killed at Khanwa fighting alongside Rana Sanga — he divided the country between his two sons before he rode out, so that they would not fight over it after.

If the wedding date is close, message before you order. This is the longest courier run the workshop makes, and Karni Creations will confirm the timeline honestly rather than take a payment it cannot deliver against.

Rajputi Chuda Dungarpur

About 480 km · Courier in up to 8 days · Dungarpur, Sagwara, Simalwara, Aspur, Bichhiwara, Galiakot, Sabla

Karni Creations delivers rajputi chuda to Dungarpur, Sagwara, Simalwara, Aspur, Bichhiwara, Galiakot and Sabla by courier from Jaipur, about 480 km away, in up to 8 days. The boor chuda ships the same way here as everywhere else — video call before dispatch, unboxing video on arrival.

Dungarpur is the senior house of the Vagad, and the elder line of the two. Dungarpur descends from Mahup, the eldest son of Karan Singh of Mewar; the Maharana’s line at Udaipur descends from the younger brother. Their rulers were Maharawals, not Maharanas, and Dungarpur is the head of the sept.

Karni Creations writes for these houses too. The record is checked either way, and nothing goes into a patra that the family has not first approved.

Whichever town you are in, the process is identical: order, video call, courier, unboxing video. The distance only changes the number of days — not the set, not the price, not the care.

The Chuda in Mewar

Sisodia country, and the houses on it

Mewar is Sisodia country. Chittor is the parent seat and Udaipur is where the house went after the fort fell in 1568. In these families the rajputi boor chuda needs no explanation — the women of the family put it on the bride, the 7 or 9 cut boor dhalu chuda for the wedding, and the plain 15 cut boor through the festivals of the year.

But Mewar was never only Sisodia, and its own nobility says so. Of the sixteen first-class thikanas — the Solah Umrao — three were Jhala houses (Bari Sadri, Delwara, Gogunda), three were Chauhan (Bedla, Kotharia, Parsoli), two were Rathore (Badnore, Ghanerao), and Bijolia was a Parmar house. The Sisodia branches among the sixteen were the Chundawats — Salumbar, Deogarh, Amet, Begun — and the Shaktawats, at Bhindar and Bansi. A page that tells you every Mewar thikana is Sisodia is a page written by somebody who has not looked.

And the Vagad — Dungarpur and Banswara — is not Mewar proper at all. Those are Guhilot houses of the elder line: Dungarpur descends from Mahup, the eldest son of Karan Singh, while the Maharana’s line at Udaipur descends from his younger brother. Their rulers were Maharawals. Pratapgarh’s were Maharawats, from the old Deolia line, and the town is named for Maharawat Pratap Singh — not for Maharana Pratap.

Karni Creations writes for all of them. The record is checked either way, and nothing goes into a patra that the family has not first approved.

That is what the Thikana Patra is. Tell Karni Creations the thikana your family holds — in Udaipur, in Chittorgarh, in Rajsamand, in Bhilwara, in the Vagad — and the history is verified against the records, sent to your family for approval, and only then written out to travel with the bridal set.

Everything about the sets — what boor is, what dhalu means, how the cuts differ, and the full story of the Thikana Patra — is on the main page: Rajputi Boor Chuda.

Not the Same Thing

Boor chuda vs Punjabi chura — what is the difference?

The rajputi boor chuda is a cream-white bangle set worn by Rajput brides and placed on by the women of the family. The Punjabi chura is a red-and-white set worn by Punjabi brides and placed on by the bride’s maternal uncle. They are different objects, worn by different communities, in different ceremonies. Only the words sound alike.

Ordering from Mewar: message the wedding date first. Shahpura is about 210 km from the workshop, Kushalgarh about 560. The courier takes up to 8 days. If the date is close, Karni Creations will tell you honestly whether the set can reach you in time, before you pay.

Getting the Size Right

How to measure your boor chuda size

To find your boor chuda size, measure the inner diameter of a bangle the bride already wears comfortably, across the middle, in inches. Boor is a hard set — it does not stretch and it cannot be adjusted after it ships. Karni Creations confirms the size before you pay, not after.

  1. Find a bangle that already fits. Take one the bride wears comfortably — not tight, not loose.
  2. Measure the inner diameter. Lay a measuring tape across the middle of the bangle, inner edge to inner edge. Note the number in inches.
  3. Photograph it. One clear photo with the tape lying across the bangle, so the number is readable.
  4. Send it on WhatsApp. Karni Creations matches it to a size and confirms before any payment is taken.
Size Fits Rough guide
2.4Slim handThe most commonly ordered size in Rajasthan
2.6Medium handThe safe middle if you are unsure
2.8Fuller handOrder this if bangles usually feel tight

Any size outside 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8 is made to order. Tell us the wedding date at the same time, because a made-to-order set takes longer.

Wedding Timeline

How early should you order a boor chuda?

Order a rajputi boor chuda six to eight weeks before the wedding. Every set is made by hand at the Karni Creations workshop — nothing sits ready on a shelf — and the Thikana Patra needs time, because it is researched, sent to the family for approval, and only then written.

Before the wedding What should be done
6–8 weeksMessage Karni Creations. Confirm the size, the cut, and the poshak colour to match. The Thikana Patra research starts here, because it goes to your family for approval before it is written.
4 weeksThe set is being made and finished at the Jaipur workshop.
2–3 weeksVideo call. You see the finish, the colour, the weight in the hand — before it is packed.
1–2 weeksDispatch. Courier from Jaipur, up to 8 days anywhere in Mewar.
On arrivalRecord the unboxing video before you cut the tape.
Wedding is sooner than that? Message anyway. Karni Creations will tell you honestly whether it can reach you in time — before you pay, not after. This matters more in the Vagad than anywhere else on this page: Banswara and Dungarpur are the longest run the workshop makes.

Jaipur to Your City

How the chuda reaches Mewar

  1. You order. On the site or on WhatsApp — the size, the cut, and the poshak colour to match.
  2. You see it first. Before it leaves Jaipur, Karni Creations shows you the set on a video call — the finish, the colour, the weight in the hand.
  3. It travels by courier. Packed at the workshop and delivered anywhere in Rajasthan in up to 8 days. Cash on delivery is arranged case by case — ask on WhatsApp.
  4. You record the unboxing. One unbroken video from sealed parcel to open box. Boor is delicate — if the size does not fit or the chuda arrives broken, that video is what gets you an exchange.

Who Makes It

The workshop behind the chuda

Karni Creations was founded in 2020 by Jyoti Shekhawat and is a family workshop in Jaipur, Rajasthan, making rajputi boor chuda and Rajputi poshak by hand. Every set that goes to Mewar is turned, cut and finished in that workshop — not sourced, not resold.

PHOTO — Jyoti Shekhawat at the Karni Creations workshop, Jaipur: a boor chuda being cut and finished by hand

Jyoti Shekhawat founded Karni Creations in Jaipur in 2020. She runs the workshop and speaks to every family herself — the size, the cut, the colour to match the poshak, the thikana. There is no sales desk between the bride’s family and the person who makes the set.

The Thikana Patra is written here too. Karni Creations researches the family’s thikana against the records — a Chundawat seat at Salumbar, a Jhala house at Delwara, a Guhilot house in the Vagad, it makes no difference to the method — sends the draft to the family for approval, and writes the final only once they have signed off on it. No patra leaves the workshop unverified.

There is no shop, in Udaipur or anywhere else. That is why the video call exists — so the bride’s family sees the set exactly as they would across a counter, before it is packed.

What is a rajputi boor chuda?

A rajputi boor chuda is the cream-white bridal bangle set worn by Rajput brides in Rajasthan, finished to resemble hathi dant (ivory). It is placed on the bride by the women of her family. How do I measure my boor chuda size — 2.4, 2.6 or 2.8?

Take a bangle the bride already wears comfortably and measure its inner diameter across the middle, in inches. Send that number to Karni Creations on WhatsApp with a photo of the tape across the bangle, and the size is confirmed before you pay. Boor does not stretch, so the size cannot be adjusted after it ships. Sizes outside 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8 are made to order.

Is boor chuda the same as Punjabi chura?

No. The rajputi boor chuda is cream-white with a hathi dant finish, worn by Rajput brides and placed on by the women of the family, and it comes in 7 cut and 9 cut dhalu for the wedding. The Punjabi chura is red and white and is placed on by the bride’s maternal uncle. Different object, different community, different ceremony.

Is it called rajputi chuda or rajputi chura?

Rajputi chura and rajputi chuda mean the same thing — “chuda” is the spelling used in Rajasthan, and it is the set Rajput brides wear: the cream-white boor chuda, in 7 cut or 9 cut dhalu. What it is not is the Punjabi chura, which is a different object altogether — red and white, worn by Punjabi brides, placed on by the maternal uncle. Same-sounding word, different set.

Which chuda do Mewar brides choose — 7 cut or 9 cut?

There is no rule, in Mewar or anywhere else. Both are bridal sets. The 9 cut sits fuller and carries higher up the forearm; the 7 cut sits lighter. The difference is four bangles and ₹500 — it is the bride’s choice.

What is a Thikana Patra?

A Thikana Patra is a written history of the bride’s ancestral thikana — the estate her Rajput family holds. Karni Creations researches the thikana against the records, sends the draft to the family for approval, and writes the final only once they have signed off. It travels with the bridal chuda in its box. No patra leaves the workshop unverified.

Can you write the Thikana Patra for a Mewar thikana?

Yes. Mewar is Sisodia country, but its sixteen first-class thikanas were never all Sisodia — three were Jhala houses (Bari Sadri, Delwara, Gogunda), three Chauhan (Bedla, Kotharia, Parsoli), two Rathore (Badnore, Ghanerao), and Bijolia was Parmar. The Sisodia branches among them were the Chundawats at Salumbar, Deogarh, Amet and Begun, and the Shaktawats at Bhindar and Bansi. Karni Creations writes for all of them. Tell us the thikana; the history is verified against the records and sent to your family for approval before it is written.

Are Banswara and Dungarpur part of Mewar?

They sit in the Mewar belt, but they are not Mewar proper — they are the Vagad. Dungarpur and Banswara are Guhilot houses of the elder line: Dungarpur descends from Mahup, eldest son of Karan Singh of Mewar, while the Maharana’s line at Udaipur descends from his younger brother. Their rulers were Maharawals, not Maharanas, and Banswara split from Dungarpur in 1527 after Rawal Udai Singh was killed at Khanwa. The chuda is the same set for all of them; only the thikana histories differ.

Is Pratapgarh named after Maharana Pratap?

No — and this is the most common mistake made about the district. Pratapgarh is named for Maharawat Pratap Singh, who built the town at the end of the seventeenth century. The house is Sisodia, out of the old Deolia line, and its rulers held the title Maharawat. Dhariawad, in the same district, was founded by a grandson of Maharana Pratap — so both names belong to the district, and they are not the same man.

Who makes the chuda at Karni Creations?

Karni Creations was founded in Jaipur in 2020 by Jyoti Shekhawat, who runs the workshop and speaks to every family herself. Every boor chuda is turned, cut and finished by hand in that workshop — it is not sourced from a wholesaler and not resold. She also researches and writes the Thikana Patra that travels with each bridal set.

How early should I order before the wedding?

Six to eight weeks. Every set is made by hand at the Karni Creations workshop and nothing sits ready on a shelf, and the Thikana Patra needs time — it is researched, then sent to your family for approval, then written. If your date is closer, message anyway and Karni Creations will tell you honestly whether it can reach you in time before you pay.

Is cash on delivery available in Mewar?

Cash on delivery is arranged case by case. Ask on WhatsApp before you order.

What if the chuda arrives broken in the courier?

Karni Creations exchanges it. Record an unboxing video — one unbroken take from sealed parcel to open box — and send it on WhatsApp the day it arrives. A replacement is sent.
